Expanding inspection capabilities for county-wide safety.

Hardin County Emergency Services District #2

Hardin County (1)

Background

Hardin County Emergency Services District #2 (HCESD#2) is tasked with ensuring fire safety and compliance across a diverse range of businesses and properties within the jurisdiction of Hardin County, Texas. To enhance their inspection processes and manage a growing number of premises, HCESD#2 adopted LIVSafe's suite of tools on December 1st, 2022.

Challenges

Before implementing LIVSafe, HCESD#2 faced significant challenges in keeping up with the volume of inspections required. With a limited number of inspectors, many businesses and properties could not be inspected as frequently as needed, leaving potential safety issues unaddressed for months. Additionally, there were some inefficiencies in communication between inspection companies and the AHJ, leading to delays and missed issues.

Solution

LIVSafe provided a comprehensive solution that allowed HCESD#2 to streamline and expand their inspection processes. Specifically, the Premises Management and Deficiency Tracking features enabled the district to effectively monitor and manage a larger number of properties. Moreover, the use of Report Uploading and the new Preplan Mapping tool significantly improved the communication flow between inspection companies and the AHJ, ensuring that all issues were documented and addressed promptly.

Results & Impact

Increased Coverage
Number of businesses inspected has doubled or tripled through "virtual mini inspections."

Problem Identification
Uncovered large safety issues that previously went unnoticed due to manual process limitations.

Revenue Improvement
Generated additional revenue through fines and compliance measures from newly identified issues.

Unexpected Benefits

One unexpected benefit was the significant improvement in communication between inspection companies and the AHJ. The streamlined process ensures critical safety issues are addressed much faster than before, while digitalized inspection sheets have reduced paperwork and improved overall operational efficiency.

Areas for Improvement

While LIVSafe has been instrumental in enhancing the inspection processes at HCESD#2, there were some minor areas identified for improvement. Specifically, the organization noted that some features appeared to be doubled, which caused a bit of confusion. Additionally, they suggested consolidating the "resolved" and "cleared" statuses in deficiency reports to reduce any ambiguity.
